- As a Junior Technical Manager with Hill Robinson, you will already possess marine engineering knowledge and will work alongside the existing team of Technical Managers assisting them in the day to day tasks such as:
- Worklists and budgets preparation,
- Requesting and reviewing quotations,
- Preparing and/or reviewing monthly / progress reports.
- The Junior Technical Manager, will work closely and with each Technical Manager, shadowing during onboard attendances, surveys, shipyards and workshops visits, acquiring thereby the necessary knowledge and experience to eventually have their own fleet allocated to them.
Technical Support and Administration
- Assist the Technical Department for the operational and technical support of a fleet of Superyachts.
- Provide Continuous support in the event of systems failure, spares procurement, and take part as and when necessary in the emergency response team coordination,
- Assist in the production and monitoring yacht’s maintenance budgets in close cooperation with Yacht, Technical and Finance managers.
- Provide administrative assistance in Yacht Insurance Claims of a technical and physical damage nature.
- Assist the Technical Department in the production of regular, periodical technical reports to management and owners.
- Liaise with the Client Service Team for the smooth running of the yachts.
- Assistance to other departments (e.g. finance team with financial reports, budgets, fund requests, invoicing approvals, Owner Reports, Compliance Reports).
- Physical attendance onboard the yachts will be required from time to time.
- Actively participating in Technical Department and/or Compliance Department meetings and/or other company meetings in view to share and acquire knowledge and experiences, and assist in problem solving / troubleshooting as and when necessary.
- Familiarize with and interpret Class Rules and other related regulations. Monitor survey schedules and assist with the planning of maintenance work periods.
- Review and familiarization with onboard Planned Maintenance Systems in view to ensure it is updated with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), Class, Flag and management requirements.
- Working with the Compliance Managers, DPA and Technical Managers in reviewing and analyzing reported non-conformities and defects.
- When possible, shadow during internal audits onboard AND/OR perform Technical Inspections as part of the Internal Audits performed by the Compliance team, ensuring any items that may be raised during internal or external inspections are clearly reported and addressed in advance of Class or Flag audits or surveys.
- Provide continuous support in the event of system failures, spares and emergency response team coordination.
- Review and comment on Monthly Compliance, Safety Meetings and Technical Reports as received monthly from the yachts.
- Assist in the preparation of Refit periods by compiling refit worklists, managing the quoting process.
- Monitor and Control refit costs as directed by the Project Managers
- Refit status reporting (pre-refit, weekly or monthly updates, final reports).
- Travelling during refit periods for onboard attendances and shipyard meetings alongside the Project Managers will be required.
- Participate in boat shows and industry events as applicable.
3+ years experience in similar role.
Marine Engineering, Naval Architect or Mechanical Engineering degree required.
Fluent in English.
Based in the Cote d’Azur with ability to travel frequently.
